Overview

What this support means.

Supported Independent Living, often called SIL, is funded support for people who need help at home throughout the day. It can be delivered in a shared home or another suitable living arrangement. The home and support are considered separately, so the focus stays on what the person needs to live well.

Support may include

  • Daily routines and personal care
  • Meal preparation and household tasks
  • Medication assistance within the support plan
  • Building confidence and everyday living skills
  • Community access and maintaining relationships
  • Overnight and 24/7 support where funded

Is it a fit?

Who this may suit.

SIL may suit people with higher support needs who want greater independence while having reliable assistance available at home. Funding and suitability are decided through the NDIS planning process.

NDIS funding and individual circumstances vary. Our intake team can discuss your situation, but only the NDIA or your plan manager can confirm how funding applies.
