Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between SIL and Supported Accommodation?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a model of support funded under your NDIS plan. It's designed for participants with higher support needs who require daily personal care, prompting, or supervision. INREACH Supports provides tailored 1:1 assistance within homes like Carlton House, offering 24/7 staffing, community engagement, and goal-based support.

Supported Accommodation at Christine Court Assisted Living (CCAL) provides a different model — combining housing, meals, and basic supervision funded through your Disability Support Pension. INREACH Supports operates onsite at CCAL and can deliver personal care services for residents who have NDIS funding for individual support.

CCAL is not a SIL provider — it provides accommodation and lifestyle support funded through DSP, while INREACH can deliver personal care services funded through your NDIS plan when you have approved funding for individual supports.

How is Christine Court Supported Accommodation funded?

Supported Accommodation at Christine Court is typically funded through your Disability Support Pension (DSP) or private payment arrangements, not your NDIS plan. This covers your room, meals, basic supervision, and community environment.

Funding options include:

  • Disability Support Pension (DSP): Most common funding source for eligible residents
  • Private payment: Self-funded or family-funded arrangements for those who prefer this option

Personal care services can be provided by INREACH Supports if you have NDIS funding approved for individual support services such as personal care, medication management, or daily living assistance. This creates a combined accommodation + support model.

The key difference: Accommodation costs come from DSP or private payment, while personal care services come from NDIS funding when available.

Who is Christine Court suitable for?

Christine Court Assisted Living is ideal for individuals who need additional structure, a supportive housing environment, and meals included — but who may not qualify for or require full SIL supports. Typical residents include:

  • NDIS participants with intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, or psychosocial support needs
  • Older adults needing routine, low-touch support in a secure, social environment
  • Those on the Disability Support Pension (DSP) seeking structured accommodation

Each application is considered case-by-case to ensure the fit is appropriate.

How does INREACH Supports work within Christine Court?

INREACH Supports provides personal care, assistance with daily living, and high-intensity supports to Christine Court residents who have NDIS funding for individual support services. We do not manage the accommodation itself — CCAL does — but we deliver the personal care services under your NDIS plan when you have approved funding.

This shared model means you benefit from a structured, comfortable living environment with CCAL, while receiving high-quality, participant-centred care from INREACH Supports.

How do I know which accommodation option is right for me?

The right option depends on your goals, NDIS plan funding, and daily support needs:

  • Choose SIL (e.g. Carlton House) if you need 24/7 support and have SIL funding approved under your NDIS plan. These are small, shared homes with comprehensive support and specialized care capabilities.
  • Choose Christine Court Supported Accommodation if you need structured housing with meals and community support funded through your DSP, with optional NDIS personal care services when you have approved individual support funding.
  • Consider both options if your support needs change over time — many people benefit from different accommodation types at different stages of their journey.

If you're unsure, our team can guide you through your options and help coordinate with your Support Coordinator to find the best fit.

Can I transition between Christine Court and INREACH SIL services?

Yes. Many residents begin their journey at Christine Court Supported Accommodation and may transition to Supported Independent Living (SIL) when their support needs increase or when SIL funding is approved under their NDIS plan.

When NDIS-funded services are delivered by INREACH Supports, we actively monitor and assess each participant's support needs. If a higher level of care becomes necessary, we work collaboratively with the participant, their Support Coordinator, and relevant health professionals to gather the appropriate evidence and submit a request for SIL funding.

This integrated approach means residents can remain in a familiar environment while transitioning toward greater support. If the SIL application is approved, residents may transition to a dedicated SIL setting such as Carlton House, another suitable INREACH residence, or another provider.

Our close partnership with Christine Court, combined with our experience delivering high-intensity supports, allows us to make these transitions as smooth and person-centred as possible.
