Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between SIL and Supported Accommodation?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a model of support funded under your NDIS plan. It's designed for participants with higher support needs who require daily personal care, prompting, or supervision. INREACH Supports provides tailored 1:1 assistance within homes like Carlton House, offering 24/7 staffing, community engagement, and goal-based support.

Supported Accommodation at Christine Court Assisted Living (CCAL) provides a different model — combining housing, meals, and basic supervision with optional personal care delivered by a provider of your choice. INREACH Supports operates onsite at CCAL and is often selected to deliver these daily support services where needed.

CCAL is not a SIL provider — it provides accommodation and lifestyle support, while INREACH delivers the high-intensity or daily living care funded through your NDIS plan (for Level 2 residents).

What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 3 accommodation at Christine Court?

Level 2 Supported Accommodation is best for NDIS participants who need daily support with personal care such as medication management, mealtime prompting, or hygiene. While CCAL provides the room, meals, and community setting, INREACH Supports delivers all one-on-one care funded by your NDIS plan.

Level 3 Supported Accommodation is more suited to residents who do not require daily personal care. It includes weekly room cleaning, meals, medication prompts, and general oversight — but no one-on-one supports. Residents may choose to bring in private support providers or live with greater independence.

Who is Christine Court suitable for?

Christine Court Assisted Living is ideal for individuals who need additional structure, a supportive housing environment, and meals included — but who may not qualify for or require full SIL supports. Typical residents include:

  • NDIS participants with intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, or psychosocial support needs
  • Older adults needing routine, low-touch support in a secure, social environment
  • Those on the Disability Support Pension (DSP) seeking structured accommodation

Each application is considered case-by-case to ensure the fit is appropriate.

How does INREACH Supports work within Christine Court?

INREACH Supports provides personal care, assistance with daily living, and high-intensity supports to residents at Christine Court under their NDIS plan (Level 2 residents). We do not manage the accommodation itself — CCAL does — but we deliver the in-home care services in partnership with them.

This shared model means you benefit from a structured, comfortable living environment with CCAL, while receiving high-quality, participant-centred care from INREACH Supports.

How do I know which accommodation option is right for me?

The right option depends on your goals, NDIS plan funding, and daily support needs:

  • Choose SIL (e.g. Carlton House) if you need 24/7 support and have SIL funding approved under your NDIS plan. These are small, shared homes with high staff involvement and tailored support.
  • Choose Level 2 at CCAL if you need personal care support, meals, and structured housing — with INREACH Supports delivering your daily care under your NDIS plan.
  • Choose Level 3 at CCAL if you want greater independence, do not have daily care funding, and only need general support like meals, cleaning, and check-ins.

If you're unsure, our team can guide you through your options and help coordinate with your Support Coordinator to find the best fit.

Can I transition between Christine Court and INREACH SIL services?

Yes. Many residents begin their journey in Level 2 or Level 3 accommodation at Christine Court and transition to Supported Independent Living (SIL) when their needs increase or when formal daily support is required under an NDIS plan.

When NDIS-funded services are delivered by INREACH Supports, we actively monitor and assess each participant's support needs. If a higher level of care becomes necessary, we work collaboratively with the participant, their Support Coordinator, and relevant health professionals to gather the appropriate evidence and submit a request for SIL funding.

This integrated approach means residents can remain in a familiar environment while transitioning toward greater support. If the SIL application is approved, residents may transition to a dedicated SIL setting such as Carlton House, another suitable INREACH residence, or another provider.

Our close partnership with Christine Court, combined with our experience delivering high-intensity supports, allows us to make these transitions as smooth and person-centred as possible.
